Bodywork & Paint

Service details

Service overview

Repair of exterior body damage, dents and scratches, and repainting of damaged panels after a full assessment.

Bodywork and paint repairs accident damage, dents, deep scratches and damaged paint on the car's body. The damage is assessed first to decide whether each panel should be repaired or replaced, then it is reshaped and refinished to match the rest of the car.

You see the recommendation and approve the quote before any repair begins.

WarrantyA 3-year warranty on bodywork and paint, for peace of mind about the quality of the repair.

Damage this service repairs

  • Accident damage to bumpers, wings, doors, the bonnet or the boot lid
  • Dents and creases where the paint has cracked or chipped
  • Deep scratches and scuffs that have gone through the clear coat
  • Faded, peeling or mismatched paint on one or more panels
  • Damaged trim and mounting points around the impact area

If a dent has left the paint intact, paintless dent repair (PDR) may fix it without filler or repainting. The assessment will show which method suits the damage.

How the right repair is decided

Every job starts with an inspection of the damaged area and what sits behind it. A bumper that looks scuffed can hide broken brackets, a cracked sensor housing or a bent reinforcement bar, and these change both the repair and the price.

Repair or replace the panel?

Panels that are dented or creased but structurally sound can usually be straightened and refinished. Panels that are torn, badly stretched or very expensive to rework are often better replaced. You see the recommendation and the quote before any work begins.

How much needs repainting?

Small damage may only need the affected panel painted. To keep the colour consistent, the paint is often blended into the neighbouring panels, especially on metallic and pearl finishes or on older cars whose paint has faded in the sun.

The repair process

  1. Inspection and quote. The damage is assessed and you approve the price before work starts.
  2. Preparation. Lights, trim and parts around the damage are removed so the panel can be worked on properly.
  3. Bodywork. The panel is straightened, filled where needed, or replaced.
  4. Primer and paint. The surface is prepared and primed, then colour and clear coat are applied.
  5. Reassembly and final check. Parts are refitted, and gaps, finish and colour are checked before handover.

After an accident

If the car isn't safe to drive, flatbed towing can bring it in for assessment. When the damage is part of an insurance claim, start with the insurance claims service before any repair work, and see our guide on what to do after a car accident. Parts that can't be repaired can be sourced through spare parts supply.

Frequently asked questions

Will the new paint match the rest of the car?

The colour is mixed from the car's paint code and checked against the car before painting. On faded or special finishes, blending into adjacent panels helps the repair sit evenly with the original paint.

Can a scratch be polished out instead of painted?

Light scratches that stay in the clear coat can often be polished. If you can catch the scratch with a fingernail, it has usually gone deeper and needs paintwork.
