Getting the right part the first time

The same model can use different parts depending on the year, engine, gearbox and trim. To identify the exact part, have ready:

  • the VIN (chassis number), which is printed on the vehicle registration
  • the make, model, year and engine size
  • the part number, if it's printed on the old part or written in a workshop report
  • a clear photo of the old part and where it fits, if you have one

Part options

Genuine parts

Genuine parts are made or supplied under the car manufacturer's brand and match the original specification.

Aftermarket parts

Aftermarket parts are made by other manufacturers to fit the car. Quality and price vary between brands.

Availability, price and warranty differ from one part to another. Before you approve a part, ask what type is being supplied, which brand it is, and whether it comes with a warranty.

Confirm the fault before buying parts

Buying parts on a guess wastes money when the real cause is elsewhere. If you're not sure which part has failed, start with inspection and diagnostics.

How a parts request works

  1. You share the vehicle details and the part you need, or the workshop's diagnosis.
  2. The exact part is identified for your car.
  3. You're given the available options and their prices.
  4. The part is supplied once you approve.

Fitting the part

Parts for engine, gearbox, suspension or brake work can be fitted through mechanical repair. Body panels, lights and trim after an accident are fitted as part of bodywork and paint. Filters and other wear items are usually replaced during periodic maintenance.
